Flowers just because...

I'm always looking for opportunities to practice my flower arranging skills and when I go to the store I just cant help but make a first stop to where the flowers are and see what I can get. This time of the year they are selling Lisianthus which is a favorite of mine! I couldn't pass and came back home with these beauties.
I used chicken wire to keep some of the stems upright, the greenery came from my yard, love the gardenia leaves, they are so pretty right now and give the perfect touch along with nandinas.
Love the way it turned out and it's sitting at my dining room table right now. Always love fresh flowers!

Farewell flowers

I was asked to make a floral arrangement for a special young lady at our church who has faithfully served in the children and youth ministry for the past 10 years. She happens to love Baby's Breath and it was the perfect occasion to try this tree I had been wanting to make for a while. I added some Plumosa fern to it and I feel it looked pretty sweet. The watercolor painting you see in there was made by a sweet and super talented lady named Claire Brantley who is so great at working with watercolors, my favorite!!!
All in all, it turned out to be a great farewell reception for this awesome lady who invested so much in the lives of our kids!

Se colgó hasta el molcajete!

Se colgó hasta el Molcajete’ 🤣this is something we say as a joke when someone is wearing too many accessories. Well, I had a ‘molcajete’ sitting in my kitchen and saw the potential for a great vase to my flower arrangement I had to make for a Mexican theme baby shower. So I added as many colorful and pretty blooms to brighten my ‘molcajete’... sometimes too many it’s OK!!! 😅😉.

[MOLCAJETE] From Nahuatl molcaxitl, is the Mexican version of the mortar made out of stone and used for grinding spices... or like my husband said ‘is where you put your guacamole’ 🙄😬🥑.

Colorful Feast!

This girl tasted a fig for the very first time last week!
A sweet friend of ours shared some freshly cut figs with me and I absolutely loved them. Not only they taste great and are really good for you but they also look super cute, they are like small pears but inside that salmon, coral like color is amazing.
I can't believe I got to be this old and NEVER tasted one before!!!
All that to say that this first time fig tasting discovery inspired my creativity to play with some fun colors, I wanted to try to use flowers I had never worked with before like Safflowers, Scabiosa Pods, Godetias and Veronica's. It's always fun creating floral arrangements with a splash of color. At the end, after I took the pictures and was going through them I realized that I always go heavy on the greenery... I don't really intent to do so when I start but as I go I always end up using lots of greenery, I just love it... I guess I have to learn to make floral arrangements that only have flowers to add to the variety but for this time I went big with green. I guess you like what you like 😉
I'm always learning and experimenting and as I go I think I'm defining more and more what my style is... and greenery in my floral arrangements is a must 😁

Oh my stars!!! 🤩🤩🤩

Last night I made two arrangements for a baby shower and had a few left over blooms and greenery that a friend had let me cut from her yard. I ended up falling in love with this arrangement! I was already tired and ready to go to bed but couldn't resist as I saw the potential and possibilities with what I had at hand... its amazing what some nice fresh greens can do for a floral arrangement, I have to say that I absolutely love greenery, I would be happy designing with just different types of greens and textures.  It's the first time I work with Potato vine, I was worried at first that it would hold very well but to my surprise it has done great! I cut it last Thursday and 4 days later still looks great.
Anyway, I'm so proud of this creation that took so little, I call it my effortless beauty!

Baby shower flowers

I dear friend of mine asked me to make these flower arrangements for a baby girl shower. I'm always eager to make arrangements to mix and match different greens and flower types. I love the way they turned out, sweet and soft but a vibe of elegance in there. The flower vases were given to me by a friend for my birthday. I had been anxiously waiting to use them with some floral design and this weekend I finally had the opportunity. These flowers are simply beautiful to me!
